Buying a new home, epecially if it is a family home and not an investment, is a very emotional time. Like you say rushing in to 30 year deal is not the ideal situation but if it must happen it must. You have provided some great pointers to avoid disaster.

Hi Sean,

It’ll be a long search to buy the perfect house. The only way to get one is to design and build one yourself. I think it’s highly unlikely that you’ll get everything you want in one house.

So, I think you have to be clear about what is most important to you and be willing to compromise on what you want.
