How To Get The Most Money For Your Property Part 3

When prospective buyers pull up to your home they will make an instant judgment about it, either good or bad. Here are a few additional things that you can do to be sure that any prospective buyer that comes to look at your property gets the best possible impression of it.

  • Make sure that any walls or fences get a fresh coat of paint to help them look more appealing.
  • If you have a garden make sure that all of the weeds are pulled.
  • Clear any pathways outside of debris. Use a leaf blower or sweep any garden paths or walkways.
  • If you have a pool make sure that it is kept clean and looks inviting at all times. If prospective buyers see a pool that is dirty they may assume that a pool is a lot of work to maintain and decide to look somewhere else. Nothing says neglect like a dirty pool.
  • Wash down all surface areas in your home such as door knobs, door knockers and bells.
  • Wash down the front door of your home and the garage door if applicable. If need be apply a fresh coat of paint to give them a really clean and fresh look.
  • Make sure you garage door stays closed when showing your home. It gives your home a neater appearance.

Making a good first impression is very important to the success you experience with selling your home. Once you have made a good first impression by focusing on the outside of your home and what potential buyers see when they first arrive, you will want to make sure that the inside looks just as good as the outside. In our next installment we will look more in depth at that.

  1. Hi Sean,

You do need to make an effort when selling your home. It needs to be in the best possible shape that you can get it. I think people are more interested in buying properties that look like they’ve been loved and cared for.

  2. Jody Chambers says:

First impressions really do count when you are selling your home. Potentential buyers will link an emotion to the first visual impression of your property. A positive impression will increase your chances of a sale therefore it makes senese to put your best foot forward.
