Government Offers Great Incentives To Go Green

The Commonwealth Government’s economic stimulus package is offering home owners up to $1600 cash back for roof insulation on owner occupied homes. They are also offering a $1000 insulation rebate for landlords on each property that they own. These initiatives are geared towards making homes in Australia more energy efficient. In addition to these incentives many Australians may also be eligible to receive free ceiling insulation as well.

Plan To Reduce The Amount Of Greenhouse Gases

The measures that the Commonwealth Government are taking are geared towards reducing the amount of greenhouse gases that are produced by more than 49 million tonnes by the year 2020. Insulation is a very cost effective measure that can be taken to generate lower residential energy usage because it can reduce the heating bills and the cooling bills by up to 40 per cent. That can add up to a whole lot of savings for the average Australian homeowner and make residential homes safer and healthier as well by reducing the amount of condensation that accumulates on the ceilings and walls.

Free Ceiling Insulation To Those Who Qualify

Any Australian property owner who does not currently have ceiling insulation is eligible to receive free insulation between the time frame of 1 July 2009 until 31 December 2011. It is estimated that more than two million homes will receive the free insulation which is valued at around $1600. And getting the free insulation installed is as easy as calling the toll free number and setting up an appointment after 1 July 2009. Homeowners who wish to get their ceilings insulated before 1 July can install it now and then get reimbursement up to $1600 once the program begins in July. This government initiative is a great way to help not only Australian homeowners, but the environment too.

This Free Insulation from the Government is excellent, i have already had several quotes but have chosen a product called Eco-Cell from Coastal Home Insulation. The quotes that I did have received have been the Pink Batts, Wool Batt, Poly Batt and Eco-Cell. If anyone else is going to get the Federal Government Insulation Grant/Rebate of $1600 let me know what you are choosing to install.
    Cheers,

  3. Hi Sean,

I think the Australian Government had the right idea here but it ended in a complete debacle. Installing the insulation would have helped the environment and the heating and cooling bills of residents.

It just wasn’t handled properly and ended up costing us a huge amount of money.

It is another great move by the Australian Government. Changing from the old type light globe to the new energy efficient cfg globe was another great idea. Not only does it help save the planet it also reduces the load on power plants…which of course the Government has to run.
