Finding A Good Real Estate Agent Part 4

Know What You Want To Know

It is a good idea to have a list of questions to ask a real estate agent when you interview them. Many agents will have a pitch that they tell all of their prospective customers. If you have specific questions or concerns be sure to write them down and make sure that they are answered to your satisfaction. Here are a few questions to consider asking. You can add additional questions of you own to this list to cover your individual concerns.

  • How long have you been a real estate agent and what has your experience been like?
  • Do you work full time or part time as a real estate agent? If they are working part time find out if they are working at another job. This is not always a deal breaker, but be sure that they have enough time to dedicate to you and your property.
  • How long have you worked at the office where you are now?
  • How many properties did you list or were you involved with last year?
  • How many properties did you sell last year?
  • Who do you usually represent, buyers or sellers?
  • How many listings do you have right now?
  • Do you have prospective buyers approach you looking for properties? If so, how many?
  • What makes you a good real estate agent?
  • What makes you a bad real estate agent?
  • How much do you think our property is worth? How did you come up with that figure?
  • What kind of marketing do you use to get clients?
  • How do you plan on marketing my property?

The real estate agent that you choose should be skilled in price negotiation to ensure that you get the amount that you want for your property. They should also have the ability to present your home to a large number of prospective buyers and be able to market your home in a positive way to attract to most prospective buyers.

  1. Hi Sean,

Thanks for the great list of questions to ask real estate agents. You’ll be sure to find the right one to add to your real estate investment team if you ask these types of questions.

It’s important to get someone you can work with and who understands what you want. Not an easy task.

That is a very comprehensive checklist and will screen out any real estate agents that will not perform for you. It will also show them that you are serious about how you are going to market your property. Great article.
