Many people are getting started in the real estate investment industry because they have the capital necessary to do so. However, not everyone who is seriously interested in becoming an investor in the real estate market has the financial backing to support his or her interests. These people must search for loans in order to fulfill the dream of becoming a successful investor in the real estate market.
As a beginner in the real estate investment industry, you are certain to come across a property that you know is a great deal that can bring substantial profit. However, you may not have the funds to cover the transaction and may need to search for a source for investor loans. It is important that you understand that investment loans are not the same as the mortgage that you would take out for your primary residence.
What Not to Do
When you need a real estate investment loan, remember these important points:
• Do not be discouraged if the first financial institution you go to for the money rejects your application for an investment loan. Simply go somewhere else. Often times banks will refuse to finance this type of investment, but a number of other lending institutions would be happy to assist you with obtaining the money that you need for your investment transaction.
• Do not expect a bank or lending institution to simply hand over a check. Be ready to prove that the investment that you want to make is viable and stands a chance of bringing you a considerable profit. You will need to research accurately and efficiently in order to put together your plan and make your presentation appealing to lenders.
• Do not blindly accept the first loan that is thrown out to you. Take the time to do your homework and find out the different options that you have available to you as an investor in the real estate market. Select a loan option that best suits your needs.

Hi Sean,
Thanks for the great tips on what not to do. I wouldn’t have really thought about shopping around for the best loan. I just would have gone to my bank and that would’ve been it. It makes sense to make sure you can get the best real estate investment loan possible.
Again, research seems to be the cornerstone of real estate investment.
Getting finance is always the battle…especially with all the negative media surrounding the Global Financial crisis. Banks just seem to crunch numbers these days and you really have to prove to them that “this will work!’
